Manila workshop on local integrity

Frans Geraedts and Julien Topal joined Legatum Institute and other experts on local governmental integrity to a 2-day workshop in Manila, Philippines.

Legatum Institute’s Transitions Forum (http://www.li.com/programmes/transitions-forum) took the initiative to conceive of an advisory panel of integrity experts to lead a 2-day workshop with politicians, civil servants, journalists and NGO-members on integrity of local government in the Philippines. The three  members of the advisory panel all had ample experience in working on integrity within challenging contexts. Frans Geraedts was part of the panel for his extensive experience working with the City of Lviv, Ukraine.

During the 2-day workshop we had many interesting discussions on the specifics of the political system and history of the Philippines, while the experts from Lviv, La Paz (Bolivia) and Brazil provided for their hard-learned lessons on how to make a change for the better under difficult circumstances.
